How It Works

Maven Hub connects homeschool families across Geraldton and the Mid West with meaningful opportunities beyond the home. We bridge the gap between families seeking real-world learning and providers looking for a practical way to reach and organise home-educated children.

For Families

Maven helps you discover experiences that bring learning into the real world. We coordinate groups for career tasters, workplace visits, STEM experiences, trades, community programs, and creative workshops. We handle the logistics so you can focus on the learning:

  • Finding and developing unique experiences
  • Managing registrations and waitlists
  • Coordinating homeschool-specific groups
  • Sending reminders and answering practical questions

Ways to Work with Maven

Home-educated children are not always reached through the same channels as school groups.

Maven gives businesses and organisations a practical way to include them.
There is no single way to work with Maven. Your organisation might:

  • • Host a workplace visit, career session or practical experience
    • Share industry knowledge or staff expertise
    • Adapt an existing school or community program for a homeschool group
    • Open an existing opportunity to home-educated children
    • Sponsor places or help reduce participant costs
    • Provide a venue, materials, equipment, transport or in-kind support
    • Develop a completely new idea with Maven

If your organisation has people, expertise, facilities, programs, resources or funding that could open a door for home-educated children, there may be a worthwhile way for us to work together.

Maven Can Do the Legwork

We make the family coordination side easier for providers. Depending on the project, Maven can:

  • Shape the initial idea
  • Gauge interest from local families
  •  Bring together a suitable homeschool group
  • Coordinate dates, ages and participant numbers
  • Handle agreed family communication and practical details
  • Help make an existing program work for home-educated children
  • Act as the connection between the organisation and families

A Mutually Useful Partnership

A good Maven collaboration should be worthwhile for everyone involved!

For families, it can open access to knowledge, workplaces and programs they might otherwise miss.
For organisations, it may support community engagement, regional education, early-careers awareness, staff involvement and stronger connections with local families.

The particular value will depend on the organisation and the project.
Maven’s role is to help make the connection useful, realistic and well organised.

Funding and Practical Support

Some ideas already have a budget.

Others may need sponsorship, in-kind support or external funding before they can go ahead.
Depending on the project, Maven can research relevant grants and funding streams, help prepare or coordinate applications, and work alongside eligible organisations where the application needs to come from a particular type of body.

Funding might help cover delivery costs, materials, venues, equipment, transport or subsidised family places.

Funding cannot be guaranteed, but Maven can help explore what is realistic and do the groundwork needed to pursue it.

Maven is a for-profit business built to create worthwhile opportunities for home-educated children.

Some opportunities may be free or subsidised,

while others will have genuine delivery and coordination costs.

Where Maven is doing substantial development, funding work or family coordination,

that work needs to be properly included in the project budget.

This allows Maven to keep creating opportunities without relying indefinitely on unpaid labour,

while keeping family costs fair, transparent and proportionate.

Maven may still share useful opportunities,

make introductions or provide smaller amounts of help without charging when it makes sense for local families.
